Backup, Recovery & Cloud Storage

Backups you can actually restore from, plus cloud storage and file sharing set up with the right access controls.

Overview

What this service covers

Many organisations believe they are backed up when they are only synced or mirrored. Ransomware, accidental deletion and hardware failure all expose the difference. A real backup is versioned, kept in more than one place, includes an offline or immutable copy, and is tested by restoring it.

We design backup around how much data you can afford to lose (RPO) and how long you can be down (RTO), then set up cloud storage and file sharing with sensible permissions, so people can collaborate without creating new risks.

Designed. Deployed. Supported.

What's included

  • Backup assessment: what exists, what is protected, what is not
  • RPO and RTO workshop and a written recovery objective per system
  • 3-2-1-1-0 backup design: three copies, two media, one off-site, one immutable, zero verified errors
  • Server, virtual machine and file-share backup
  • Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace backup (mail, files, Teams/SharePoint)
  • NAS and cloud object storage set-up with encryption and retention rules
  • Immutable or offline copies to resist ransomware
  • Cloud storage and file sharing: OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive or NAS with permissions
  • Monitoring, alerting and scheduled restore tests with a short report
  • Disaster-recovery runbook for critical systems

Exact scope, product models, licensing, timelines and warranty are confirmed during requirement assessment. Third-party subscriptions and spare parts are quoted separately where applicable.

Typical scenarios

Where clients ask for this.

Ransomware worry

Immutable copies and separate credentials so attackers cannot delete your backups.

File server failure

Tested restore procedure and known recovery time.

Everyone shares files by email

Structured cloud storage with permissions, version history and external sharing controls.

Leaver deleted a shared folder

Versioned backup lets you recover it quickly.

FAQs

Questions about Backup, Recovery & Cloud Storage

Is cloud storage the same as backup?

No. Sync services such as OneDrive or Google Drive keep devices in step, and a deletion or encryption can sync everywhere. Backup keeps separate, versioned copies you can roll back to. Microsoft and Google protect their platforms, but you remain responsible for your data.

How often should we back up?

It depends on how much work you can afford to redo. Nightly is common for file servers; critical databases may need hourly or continuous protection. We set the schedule from your RPO.

How long will a restore take?

Roughly data size divided by restore speed, plus preparation. Our backup calculator on the Tools page gives a first estimate, and a restore test gives the real figure.

Where is our data stored?

Wherever you choose. We discuss region, encryption and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 implications during design; please take legal advice on specific obligations.
