Endpoint Security: Antivirus, EDR & XDR

Protect every laptop, desktop and server with the right level of defence: from sound basics to EDR, XDR and managed detection, sized to your team and risk.

Overview

What this service covers

Most attacks begin on an endpoint: a phished user, an unpatched PC, an exposed remote-access service. Traditional antivirus still blocks a lot, but it cannot tell you what happened after something gets in. EDR records and detects suspicious behaviour and lets you isolate a device in minutes. XDR connects those signals with email, identity and network data.

Tools alone do not protect you; someone must configure them, watch the alerts and know what to do. We help you choose the right level, deploy it without breaking daily work, harden the basics around it, and be honest about when 24×7 monitoring needs a managed-detection partner.

Designed. Deployed. Supported.

What's included

  • Endpoint security assessment: what is installed, what is missing, where the gaps are
  • Antivirus / next-generation AV deployment and policy standardisation
  • EDR rollout: pilot group, audit mode, tuned policies, then enforcement
  • XDR and MDR options: integrating endpoint, email, identity and network signals
  • Device hardening: disk encryption, local-admin removal, USB and application control
  • Patch and vulnerability management for OS, applications and firmware
  • Phishing-resistant sign-in: multi-factor authentication for email, VPN and admin accounts
  • Incident response runbook: who isolates, who calls whom, what is preserved
  • Monthly security and coverage reports

Exact scope, product models, licensing, timelines and warranty are confirmed during requirement assessment. Third-party subscriptions and spare parts are quoted separately where applicable.

Typical scenarios

Where clients ask for this.

Antivirus is installed but nobody checks it

Central console, alert routing and weekly review, so detections lead to action.

After a phishing scare

Isolate, investigate and confirm scope using EDR timelines, then close the gap that allowed it.

Remote and hybrid staff

Policies that follow the laptop, plus secure VPN or zero-trust access.

What to compare

Detection quality in independent tests, console usability, response actions, MDR availability, licence cost per device

FAQs

Questions about Endpoint Security: Antivirus, EDR & XDR

Is antivirus enough in 2026?

For the basics it still helps, but it is not enough alone. Modern attacks use stolen passwords and legitimate tools that signature-based scanning may not flag. EDR, MFA, patching and tested backups together give much better protection.

What is the difference between EDR, XDR and MDR?

EDR watches endpoints and lets you investigate and respond. XDR correlates endpoints with other sources such as email and identity. MDR is a service where analysts monitor and respond for you. See our knowledge-base guide for a full comparison.

Do we need XDR for 20 PCs?

Usually not. For small teams, strong EDR or endpoint protection, MFA, patching and immutable backups give the best return. XDR makes sense when you have several data sources and someone to operate it, or a managed service.

Who watches the alerts at night?

That depends on the plan. For many small organisations, daytime review is the realistic standard. If you need 24×7 coverage, it is delivered through a vendor MDR service, and we will tell you exactly what the service covers and what we do.
